FACL Ontario is considering making submissions to the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) in regards to its review of the licensing process. The LSO is accepting comments from lawyers, candidates, and the public in its “Dialogue on Licensing” until October 26, 2018.
This is a potentially transformational time for the legal profession as the LSO contemplates changing the process for how licensing candidates qualify to be called to the bar.
In order to help ensure the LSO consider a synthesis of the views and experiences of Asian members of the bar, FACL Ontario invites all of its members (including student members) to fill in our survey at:
It is not necessary to submit personally identifying information. Responses will be kept anonymous, and any information of a personally identifying nature (including names of employers) will be kept strictly confidential and will not be circulated beyond the FACL Ontario Board of Directors.
Your responses will help inform us of the impact of the licensing process on Asian licensing candidates (e.g. the articling crisis), as well as priority issues for the LSO to address in its reform, and will help us prepare our submissions. Please complete this questionnaire by October 12, 2018.
