The FACL Mentorship program aims to connect both Asian Canadian students as well as younger lawyers with mentors that have many years of experience in order to foster continuous learning and professional development.
Back by popular demand, this year’s FACL Ontario annual mentoring event was held on Thursday, February, 9, 2017! With over 100 attendees, it was a rousing success. Our members had a wonderful opportunity to exchange advice, expand their networks, and make connections!
We were also thrilled to hear from Katy Waugh, Senior Vice President & Deputy General Counsel of The Bank of Nova Scotia, who provided key insights into how younger lawyers can work with mentors to achieve the best results from the relationship.
Once again FACL Ontario extends its gratitude to the evening’s generous sponsors, Osler, Hoskin and Harcourt LLP and Scotiabank.
We look forward to holding this event again next year!
Mentorship pilot program
In 2016, FACL Ontario launched a new pilot mentorship program. The purpose of the new program is to provide mid-level practitioners with guidance and networking opportunities to enhance their chances of promotion to senior positions within their chosen sector of law, whether it be partner, senior in-house counsel, Crown prosecutor, etc.
Applications for the pilot program were due in May, 2016. Currently, the program is fully subscribed and will run until June, 2017.
Stay tuned for future opportunities to participate.
