The Canadian Multicultural Council Asians in Ontario presents the Asian Heritage Month Award Gala on Sunday May 4, 2014.
The Gala is an evening of exciting multicultural experience to celebrate our 2014 “Outstanding Asian Canadian Award” in “Honouring the Pioneers” of our communities.
FACL is pleased to congratulate Frank Moritsugu, father of FACL member, Nina Moritsugu for being one of the recipients of the Outstanding Asian Canadian Award in 2014.
Frank Moritsugu, age 91, is a journalist, former editor-in-chief and publisher of the Nikkei Voice, and an anti-racism activist who speaks frequently to schools, the media and community organizations about the internment of Japanese Canadians during the Second World War. Synopsis of the Event and the Award:
CMC (Canadian Multicultural Council)-Asians in Ontario was formed in April 1998 to bring Asian Organizations together.
Today we have organizations from 21 Asian Countries. To celebrate Asian Heritage in the Month of May we decided to honour outstanding Asian Canadians in our Community.
Over the past ten years we have selected individuals who have made significant contribution in the Japanese Canadian Community. Past award recipients include David Suzuki and Raymond Moriyama.
